Bauer Ridge is nestled amongst the dense forest of the Blue Ridge Mountains. With uninterrupted views from east to west, this vacation rental is the perfect place to unplug, unwind, and find peace.

The guestroom with private ensuite bathroom has keyless entry. The room has beautiful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is a wonderful place to relax from the hustle and bustle of life. Here the air is fresh and sounds of nature surround you.

Private outdoor sitting and dining area with an electric outdoor grill on the wrap around deck.
The room is equipped with a microwave and mini fridge/freezer so you are able to make light meals.
Fresh baked biscuits and homemade jam await your arrival.
The ensuite bathroom has a walk-in shower. A hair dryer is available to use.
Fiber Optic WiFi, Netflix, and basic cable are provided
42″ Smart TV log into your favorite streaming service
5G Cell service with Verizon. TracFone or prepaid phones are spotty
Central air, ceiling fan, and window fan will keep you cool on hot summer days. 3100 ft. elevation allows for a pleasantly cool night’s sleep.
Watch the sunset while staying warm around the gas firepit. Enjoy a cup of coffee watching the sun or mist rise in the morning.

The Residents of Bauer Ridge

Mike and Kat, owners, live in the house.
Kat’s Mom lives in the downstairs apartment.
There are 3 cats named Lyra, Luna, and Cocoa Bean and one Australian Shepard, Jax.

Things to KnowBauer Ridge is located on top of a mountain. Everything is up or down. We don’t have flat land here and we don’t have straight roads. In snowy conditions All-Wheel or 4-wheel drive vehicles are highly recommended.

Bauer Ridge has a whole house generator so no loss of power!

Yoga mats, umbrella, and hiking poles are here so you don’t have to worry if you don’t have yours.

Mike and Kat Bauer are the owners and operators of Bauer Ridge Mountain Retreat.

Bauer Ridge is surrounded by the Smoky Mountains on the west and Blue Ridge Mountains on the east. We are nestled among the trees with no other home in view. Watch the sunset while warm by the gas firepit. Have a cup of coffee while watching the sunrise.

At Bauer Ridge we have a wide variety of birds including turkeys and Pileated Woodpeckers. Deer will pass through in the early mornings and evenings. Our bear makes a rare appearance.

Bauer Ridge is 30 minutes to downtown Asheville and 15 minutes to Burnsville, a quaint mountain town with cute shops, great food, and a local brewery.

Hiking, skiing, zip-lining, horse riding, and river adventure opportunities are plentiful in our area.

Yancey county is home to Toe River Arts and there are amazing potters and painters nearby. We are located in a Dark Sky area and Bare Observatory in Burnsville is a great place to learn about the stars or use our telescope to see the planets and stars.
